A Philadelphia man that was vacationing in Florida was killed in a hit-and-run crash as he crossed South Atlantic Avenue in Ormond Beach, Fla. He was vacationing in the area with his wife when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver. The accident was recorded by a surveillance camera and showed an SUV hitting the man and then driving away.

Police arrived at the scene of the accident at 11 p.m. after receiving a call that there was a man lying in the middle of the road. The man, who was severely injured, was taken to the Florida Hospital Oceanside where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was a woman that was reported to the police by her boyfriend. When police investigated, they found the SUV in the video footage at her home with a dented hood and shattered windshield. The woman claimed she thought someone threw something at her vehicle, which caused her to be scared and flee the scene.

The woman is an Ormond Beach resident and was charged with driving under the influence, causing death, and leaving the scene of a car accident that was fatal.
According to police, the woman had a blood alcohol level of 0.105, which is above the 0.08 legal limit in the state. The woman was also charged with having a controlled substance at the time of the accident. The woman was being held on $57,500 bond at the Volusia County jail.

The family of the Philadelphia man has made funeral arrangements in Philadelphia, the hometown of the deceased man.
